New Artificial Putting Green Now Open

Your practice facility just got better! You asked for another green and we listened. The new artificial putting green is now open for use. It was quickly and easily installed in just a few days by the professionals from San Diego Turf.

It is located on the south end of the range, just past the ball machine behind the tee line. You can practice putts as well as some short chips on the fringe grass.

You now have a place to roll some putts every day of the week -- including Monday when the grass green is usually closed. Speaking of maintenance, the grass green will be closed for aerification on May 5 & 6.

As a USA Top 100 Driving Range for the past 5 years, we continually strive to provide an exceptional practice facility for you. Over 10,000 brand new range balls were added to the machines over the weekend!

Hitting More Greens,
A Quick Tip from Instructor Sheri Hayes

Want to hit it on the green? Hit it deep

Here is the wicked truth: it's not that you can't hit it far enough, it's that you don't hit it there frequently enough. We all know how good it feels to hit a shot solid and pure, but in reality how many pure shots does anyone hit in a round?

The best players in the world really don't hit it that much straighter than you, but what they do is have better distance control.

If you want to hit more greens, remember these keys:

1)
Hit it deep...use the yardage to back of the green. Most greens are 30+ yards from front to back, so if you think of hitting it to the rear of the green and miss it a little, you still can make it on.
2)
Practice hitting the center of the clubface. That's where you will optimize your energy into the ball. Off-centered hits will fly short and "toed" shots will end up short and right -- just where that course designer placed the bunker.
3)
Be realistic:
A)
Your yardage for a club isn't how far you can hit it, but rather the average of how far you hit. Hit ten shots on the range and watch where they land, then figure out the mean average of the pattern.
B)
When you've "skulled" a shot and it races across the green, don't be delusional and say you hit too much club and start under-clubbing yourself the next time. Be realistic and admit you didn't catch it solidly.
C)
Play shots that you feel confident in hitting...leave the miracles to a higher power.
