Piccolo Drill Gets You "Playing" Again
A Quick Tip from Instructor Sheri Hayes


My favorite drill is definitely the Piccolo Drill.

When you are on the golf course, have you ever had the sense that you are just losing it -- and the harder you try the worse it gets? Well, I know I have.

I have come up with a good drill that will help you quickly and easily get back your swing's rhythm, balance, plane and path. It's called the 'piccolo drill' and it goes like this:

You hold the club just as normal, you take all your fingers off and just leave your index and your thumb of both hands on the golf club.

Start with a fairly slow swing, just feeling the weight of the club swinging back and forth. Then let it get bigger and bigger, and pretty soon with that light grip pressure you start feeling more of the clubhead weight again.

Right away you will get back the sense of your rhythm, the balance of club, and the sense of the club freely swinging on plane and on the proper path to the target.
