Two Keys to Consistent Chip Shots

KEY #1: The club must accelerate on the downswing and through the hitting area in order to hit the ball first and crisply, as opposed to fat or thin. This can often be achieved by shortening the backswing and or allowing your transition to become more deliberate as the club starts down towards the ball.
KEY #2: The other key to become crafty and successful around the greens is to have very little tension in your hands and arms. This will allow for increased feel and an easily repeatable action, producing better more consistent chip shots. A good way to have less tension in your hands is to actively “squeeze” your grip and then release the tension in your hands before making a stroke.
