WHO ARE WE AND WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO? A MESSAGE FROM CGC OWNERS SUSAN ROLL AND DANA CHAIKEN...
We have owned and operated the Carlsbad Golf Center as an independent facility since January 30, 2003. (Susan has been a golf professional since the early 1990's and Dana is an amateur player with experience in sports marketing.) Before we purchased the golf center, we were often frustrated as golf consumers because neither one of us could find a local golf facility that met all our needs. We simply couldn't find somewhere that felt like "our personal range and pro shop." There was no one location to test and be fit for an extensive number of clubs on the driving range or that had a decent selection of performance apparel or that could quickly re-grip a club or that seemed to be staffed by actual golf professionals. There wasn't a practice center we could find locally where the public could feel like they were at a private club.
We didn't think it was too much to ask to for a practice facility to have golf balls with dimples, a decent grass putting green or even a bunker to hit full shots. So, we decided to team up our varied backgrounds of experience and with local experts in golf and create that special place where golfers would want to shop and practice. And, along the way, we gathered an amazing team and partners who love what they do and are knowledgeable in every aspect of game enjoyment: range operation, club fitting, teaching and merchandising. We also made a conscious effort to be a good community partner.
The goal for our entire team is simply to help you love the game of golf as much as each of one of us does. We strive to provide you with the best service and an enjoyable practice experience and, most of all, with a place to call your own. After working in various aspects of the golf industry for many years and, at times, being a frustrated golf consumer disappointed by my shopping experiences at other places -- my goal was to create the golf pro shop where I would want to shop. At Carlsbad Golf Center, our team works diligently to provide all our customers – women and men alike -- with a pleasant shopping experience in a store where they can get just about anything they need or want to enjoy the game of golf. We constantly seek out and stock the latest and greatest products and equipment as well as make sure that we carry the newest models in sizes, variety and colors so we have something for everyone. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’re always happy to special order it for you.
Although I’m not physically in and around the pro shop and range as much as I’d like, I am always there in heart, mind and spirit (just behind-the-scenes and behind a computer screen). CGC is one of my favorite places in the world because of what we do (golf) and how we do it (fun). I love working with customers when I get a chance to be on the pro shop floor, because I’m an amateur golfer just like them – one who loves all the “toys” and it’s gratifying to be able to help each person select the right gear or gift item. I thoroughly enjoy helping create events and promotions for our customers that are fun and meet their golfing needs.
